India, Fiji extend agriculture cooperation MoU for five more years

India and Fiji have agreed to extend their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on agriculture cooperation for another five years.[2] The decision was taken during bilateral talks in New Delhi between India’s Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Fiji’s Agriculture and Waterways Minister Tomasi Tunabuna.[2] Both sides identified agriculture and food security as priority areas of cooperation.[2] The extended MoU will cover collaboration in areas such as crop diversification, capacity building, and technology transfer.[2] The two countries also decided to create a Joint Working Group (JWG) to strengthen engagement in the agriculture sector.[2] This JWG will periodically review progress and identify new areas for partnership.[2] The move aims to support Fiji’s agrarian economy while giving India a stronger role in Pacific agriculture cooperation.[2]
