G4 foreign ministers call for early reform of UN Security Council
Foreign ministers of the G4 countries called for early reform of the United Nations Security Council. The G4 comprises India, Brazil, Germany and Japan. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar participated in the meeting in New York. The ministers argued that the present Council structure does not adequately reflect contemporary global realities. They pressed for expanded permanent and non-permanent representation. The issue is important for India’s long-standing bid for a permanent seat on the Security Council.[1][3]
