Maharashtra UCC panel seeks public views on proposed uniform civil code

Maharashtra’s seven-member committee on a proposed Uniform Civil Code has opened a public consultation website. The panel is headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Desai. Citizens have been asked to respond to 37 questions. The consultation is scheduled to remain open until November 15. Issues include live-in relationships and women’s property rights.
