LIC recruits Assistants (clerical cadre) division by division through an online preliminary and main examination, followed by a pre-recruitment medical examination. No Assistant recruitment has been notified since 2019.

Frequently asked questions
Is the LIC Assistant 2026 notification out?
No. As of <strong>12 October 2026</strong> LIC's careers page lists no Assistant recruitment. The last one was Recruitment of Assistants-2019, notified on 17 September 2019.
How many vacancies will LIC Assistant 2026 have?
LIC has not announced any. Vacancy figures quoted elsewhere are estimates, not official numbers.
What was the LIC Assistant main exam pattern?
In 2019 the main exam had <strong>200 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes</strong>. Part A and B states had five 40-mark tests including Hindi Language; Part C states had four tests (50/40/50/60).
Is there negative marking in LIC Assistant?
In the 2019 main exam, one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question was deducted for each wrong answer.
Do I need to know the local language?
Yes. LIC requires knowledge of the official language of the state applied for. In 2019 it was checked by a qualifying 25-mark test (minimum 10; 9 for SC/ST/PwBD), unless you studied that language in Class 10 or 12.
Is there an interview in LIC Assistant?
There was no interview in 2019. Candidates shortlisted after the main exam went for a pre-recruitment medical examination.
